Libraries
The ultimate US library, the Library of Congress, is
now Webbed.
Biblomania (U.S. mirror) has
lots of good works on-line.
Literature.org sounds good, but I've
been unable to get to the site.
The University of Michigan's Internet Public Library is a cool site
with lots of on-line goodies.
The Alex
Catalogue of Electronic Texts on the Internet is available, but
currently unfunded. Alex allows search and retrieval (by author and
title) of full-text documents on the Internet by author and title.
BIBSYS is a shared
library system for most major Norwegian libraries. You can Search BIBSYS using WWW
forms.
Reference Section
Merriam-Webster online dictionary
William Strunk's The
Elements of Style, 1918 edition, is on the web and looking good.

An interesting on-going project is the Interpedia, the project
to build a freely accessible Internet encyclopedia with access to any
of the resources on the Internet. Just an idea, but an attractive
one.
